Proxies are necessary for editing 4k and 6k footage on resolve when editing remotely.

After logging into the Resolve Wreckroom server, identify the 4K footage. Check if the footage has an associated proxy. Proxies are essential for efficient editing of high-resolution footage.

Generating Proxy Media:[edit]

If the footage is not yet proxied, right-click on the clips.

Select the option to generate proxy media.

Setting Master Project Preferences:[edit]

Confirm that the master project settings are correctly configured. Ensure that the proxy media is saved in the SMB (Server Message Block) file folder.

Editing with Proxy Media:[edit]

If both the footage and the proxies are stored on the SMB and accessed via an Ethernet cable, this should provide sufficient speed for editing 4K footage without lag.

Troubleshooting:[edit]

For any issues with proxy media, check the file path. It should be: /Volumes/wreckroom/PROXIES/ProxyMedia.
